Digital vs Print Products

Digital Products deliver files or portal access after checkout; Product Catalog holds self-fulfilled and print-on-demand physical SKUs—use Digital Products for downloads and courses, Product Catalog for shipped prints and merchandise.

Digital Products includes instant file downloads and grants client portal access (courses, galleries, video libraries) after checkout. Print and POD items live under Product Catalog. For template types and delivery modes, see Digital product templates and delivery.

Prerequisites

Digital: Dashboard → Products → Digital Products

Print: Dashboard → Products → Product Catalog

POD setup: see print-on-demand-overview

Core architecture & fields

Digital Products: Create from Template type, Delivery mode (direct email vs portal), linked core content (course, portfolio, event), optional license and download limits.

Product Catalog: variants, weight, POD provider flags for partner fulfillment.

Implementation steps

  1. List what you sell: presets (digital), prints (POD or self-ship), albums (manual).
  2. Create one digital product under Digital Products with the file attached.
  3. Create one print product under Product Catalog with size variants.
  4. For POD, connect the provider and choose a template SKU (see POD overview).
  5. Write customer-facing copy that explains how each product arrives.
  6. Publish test products as draft if you are still configuring checkout.
  7. Compare fulfillment steps in manage-orders-and-fulfillment.

What you'll see

Each SKU follows the correct fulfillment path in orders after purchase.

Digital files on print SKUs

Attaching a download to a print product confuses fulfillment—keep types separate.

License language

State usage rights in the digital product description or receipt email for presets and templates.

Verifying your setup

  • You configured or documented at least one digital and one print path.
  • Customer-facing copy explains delivery for each type.
