Connect Payments with Stripe
Connect Stripe for your merchant account, split-settlement on print sales, and unlocked POD checkout on ArtInStack.
Stripe Connect is your verified merchant account on ArtInStack. It is how customer payments reach you—and how print-on-demand (POD) orders can automatically cover lab production costs while depositing your margin into your bank account. Complete onboarding in Settings → E-commerce before you sell live, enable donations, or publish print products to checkout.
Why your tenant account needs Connect
| Without Connect | With Connect complete |
|---|---|
| Print checkout on your storefront is blocked | Customers can pay for prints and POD items |
| Donations and fundraising checkout stay gated | Donation and campaign gifts settle to your account |
| Lab costs cannot be split automatically at payment time | One charge splits fulfillment costs and your net profit |
| You cannot safely receive automated payouts | Stripe verifies identity and pays out to your bank |
Connect is not optional for automated commerce on your site—it is the payment rail that ties your Stripe account to checkout, fulfillment, and payouts.
Automated split-settlement and margin protection
When a client purchases a physical print from your storefront, the platform processes one transaction and executes an instant split at the payment layer. Manufacturing and shipping costs needed to start production are handled through the platform’s settlement logic, while your net profit margin is routed to your verified Stripe Connect account.
Without a connected Stripe account, ArtInStack cannot automate these split-routing logistics or safely distribute your earnings. To protect your margins and avoid fulfillment delays, automated print-on-demand checkout and related paid flows stay gated until your payment gateway setup is complete.
For POD specifically: the customer pays one price (product + shipping). The platform retains the portion needed to cover lab base cost, lab shipping, and the platform fee; the remainder transfers to your connected account as your net (Stripe processing fees apply per Stripe’s rules). See Print-on-demand pricing and margin for how retail price relates to wholesale cost.
What Connect also enables
- Digital downloads and catalog checkout on your public site (when your plan includes commerce).
- Donations and fundraising campaigns — gifts require payouts enabled on Connect (see Donations and fundraising campaigns).
- Self-fulfilled and POD print orders through the same Stripe connection.
Prerequisites
Dashboard → Settings → E-commerce → Connect Stripe
Plan: commerce / POD capabilities on Subscription (see Commerce overview)
What you're looking at
E-commerce tab: connection status, Connect Stripe or Continue setup, payouts enabled indicator, test mode when available.
Implementation steps
- Gather business details (legal name, tax ID if applicable, bank account).
- Open Settings → E-commerce.
- Click Connect Stripe (or Continue setup if partially done).
- Complete Stripe identity and bank verification in the Stripe window.
- Return to ArtInStack and confirm status shows connected and payouts enabled.
- Publish or activate a print or donation product and run a test checkout if test mode is available.
- Switch to live mode when verification completes and the test order succeeds.
What you'll see
Connected with payouts enabled in E-commerce; checkout buttons work on your storefront; POD jobs can submit after payment. If Connect is incomplete, customers may see checkout unavailable for print products and the dashboard will prompt you to finish setup.
Incomplete Stripe onboarding
Charges may be disabled or payouts paused until Stripe finishes verification—watch email from Stripe for document requests. Print checkout remains blocked until Connect is active.
Business name on receipts
Match the Stripe business name to what customers expect on card statements to reduce chargebacks and support tickets.
Verifying your setup
- Stripe shows connected with payouts enabled in E-commerce.
- A test print or donation checkout succeeded (if you used test mode).
- Live mode is on when you are ready to sell publicly.
- You understand POD margin = retail minus lab cost, shipping, platform fee, and processing.
