Add media to a gallery

Open a Portfolio collection, add items from Media, drag to reorder, and remove items from the gallery without deleting files from the library—gallery membership is curation only; originals stay in Media for reuse on pages and products.

Add photos and videos from Media into a Portfolio collection. Reorder items to control presentation sequence on the public gallery view — sequence matters when you are telling a story or leading a client through proofing favorites in order.

Prerequisites

Dashboard → Portfolio → select collection → Manage portfolio → Media tab (default)

What you're looking at

Media tab: thumbnail grid (same density as Media library), Add media button, grip handle on each tile (visible on hover) for drag reorder.

Drag to reorder

  1. Open the collection hub on the Media tab.
  2. Hover a thumbnail and grab the grip handle (top-left).
  3. Drag the tile to a new position and release.
  4. Order saves automatically — refresh the page to confirm sequence persisted.

Reorder updates the sort field for each item in the collection. Public gallery pages, embeds, and lightbox prev/next follow this sequence.

Implementation steps

  1. Open Portfolio and click Manage portfolio on your collection.
  2. On the Media tab, click Add media to open the Media picker.
  3. Select multiple files and confirm addition.
  4. Drag items with the grip handle to reorder the gallery sequence.
  5. Remove any test or duplicate images (removing from the portfolio does not delete the file in Media).
  6. Click a tile’s edit action to set per-image title, caption, or Set as cover.
  7. Use Settings and Lightbox tabs for presentation; preview the public URL when Public gallery is enabled.

What you'll see

The portfolio shows curated items in your chosen order, ready for sharing or embedding on a page.

Removing items versus deleting files

Removing media from a portfolio does not delete the file from Media — the original stays in your library for other uses. Very large galleries may load slowly; split by event or deliver in chapters if clients struggle on mobile.

Verifying your setup

  • At least three items added to the portfolio on the Media tab.
  • Drag reorder persists after refresh and matches your intended presentation.
  • Per-image captions or cover set where needed.
