Documentation/Courses and Digital Learning

Create a Course

In Portal Manager → Courses, create a course shell with title and description, then set slug, cover, intro video, and draft status on the course editor—pricing lives on Digital Products, not the course form.

Start with a course shell—title, description, cover, and draft status—before you build lessons. Buyers should not land on an empty curriculum, so keep the course in draft until the first lessons are ready.

Pricing is never set on the course form. Sell access with a Digital Products Course SKU—see Courses as a product—or grant enrollment through invitations.

Prerequisites

Dashboard → Portal Manager → Overview → Courses → create course

Cover / intro media: Dashboard → Media

What you're looking at

Create dialog: title and short description (opens the course editor after save).

Course editor (shell): title, slug, description, status (draft / published / archived), cover image from Media, optional intro video from Media.

There is no price, access tier, or enrollment panel on the course form—access is configured separately.

Implementation steps

  1. Open Portal Manager → Overview → Courses.
  2. Create a course and enter the title plus a short marketing description.
  3. On the course editor, set a readable slug (for example lighting-101).
  4. Pick a cover image from Media (and an intro video if you use one).
  5. Leave status as draft while you build curriculum.
  6. Save the course shell.
  7. Add ordered lessons next—see Add lessons.

What you'll see

A course record with metadata and media, ready for a flat lesson list. The editor does not use a separate module tree.

Publishing too early

Live courses without lessons frustrate buyers—publish only after the first lessons are ready.

Changing the slug later

Enrolled students may have bookmarked the old URL—set the slug before you announce enrollment.

Verifying your setup

  • Course exists with title, description, and optional cover.
  • Status remains draft during build.
  • Course editor is open for adding lessons next.
