Update and Maintain Course Content

Keep courses current without disrupting learners on ArtInStack.

Courses age—gear changes, techniques evolve, links break. Small fixes belong in the existing lesson; major restructures may deserve a new course slug so enrolled students are not mid-module when you rearrange chapters. Communicate meaningful updates so returning students know what changed.

Prerequisites

Dashboard → Portal Manager → course → course editor → module / lesson → Save

Announcements: email students externally or portal messaging when available

What you're looking at

Lesson editor: title, body, video embed, attachments—same fields as initial creation.
Publish toggle per lesson: draft lessons stay hidden even when the course is published (when supported).
Course settings: optional changelog or announcement field for cohort-wide notes.

Implementation steps

  1. Open the course editor and identify the outdated lesson or module.
  2. Edit lesson copy, replace a video embed, or swap attachments from Media.
  3. Save and immediately preview as a student.
  4. Add a short note at the top of the lesson describing what changed and why.
  5. For significant updates, email enrolled students or post a portal announcement.
  6. Prefer editing in place over deleting lessons students partially completed—deletion can reset progress.
  7. When replacing an entire curriculum, create a v2 course with a new slug and sunset the old one after a transition period.

What you'll see

Enrolled students see updated content on their next visit without broken module links. Progress for unchanged lessons typically remains intact when you edit in place.

Verifying your setup

  • At least one lesson was updated and verified in student preview.
  • Students were notified when the change materially affects their workflow.
  • No broken links or empty modules after the edit.
