Projects workspace and image comments
Use Projects file buckets, comment mode, and pinned threaded comments for internal team review on ArtInStack.
Projects is an internal workspace for a shoot or job—uploads, buckets, approvals, and pinned comments on images and videos. It requires Teams on your plan. Clients do not use Projects; they use the client portal when you invite them through Portal Manager (Client delivery overview).
Prerequisites
Dashboard → Projects → open a project → Files tab
Plan: Teams enabled
What you're looking at
Bucket sidebar: folders of project files.
File viewer: preview with comment pins (amber = open, green = resolved).
Comment toolbar button: toggles Comment mode on the viewer.
Comments panel: threaded discussion for the selected file or pin.
Comment mode on project files
- Open Projects and select a project.
- On the Files tab, select an image or video from a bucket.
- Click Comment in the toolbar to enter Comment mode (button shows Exit Comment Mode when active).
- Click a spot on the image (or frame on video) to place a pin.
- In the Add Comment dialog, enter feedback and optionally mark Internal so only staff roles see it (not client project roles).
- Submit—the pin appears on the file; open it later to read the thread and reply.
- Resolve threads from the comments sidebar when the retouch or crop is done.

[Thread in Comments sidebar] → replies → resolve (green pin)
Threaded comments and pins
- Each pin is one thread with multiple replies.
- Hover a pin for author and preview; click to open the full thread.
- Internal threads stay visible to studio roles with internal access; use them for art-direction notes clients should not see.
- File Approve / Request revision actions (when your role allows) sit below the viewer for formal sign-off separate from comment threads.
Implementation steps
- Create a Projects entry for the job and upload or move files into buckets.
- Assign teammates on the project Team tab with roles that include comment permission.
- Run a test pin and reply between two staff accounts.
- Resolve one thread and confirm the pin turns green.
- When client-facing proofing is ready, share via Portal Manager—not by adding clients to internal Projects unless your workflow explicitly uses client project roles.
Verifying your setup
- Projects is available on your plan.
- Comment mode creates visible pins and sidebar threads.
- Internal vs client-visible comments match your studio policy.
