Impact Records
After a paid donation or sale with a campaign, review Impact Records, allocate amounts to one or more surveys, and share the donor Impact page from the receipt email.
An Impact Record is the authoritative link between a paid gift and the conservation activity you assigned it to. Commerce still belongs to the campaign. Field proof still belongs to the survey. The Impact Record is what says this amount was allocated toward that survey (or split across surveys).
Linking a campaign to a default survey for framing is helpful. It is not the same as proving spend. Allocation lines on the Impact Record are.
Prerequisites
- Stripe Connect with payouts enabled
- Donation or digital/print products that can attach a campaign
- Field surveys on your plan when you allocate toward surveys
- Fundraising campaigns for conservation set up for the drive
How a record is created
- A supporter completes a paid donation, digital purchase, or print order that includes a campaign.
- ArtInStack creates an Impact Record for the attributed amount.
- The first allocation line uses the campaign’s default survey when you set one (proposal only).
- The supporter receives a receipt email with a private View Impact Record link when a token is issued.
- Your team reviews records under Settings → Campaigns → Impact.
Digital or print products can attribute only a percent of the sale to the campaign. The Impact Record amount is that attributed portion, not always the full checkout total.
Operator workspace
Open Settings → Campaigns → Impact.
| Column / action | What it means |
|---|---|
| Campaign / Source | Which drive and purchase or print order created the record |
| Survey | Where the money is allocated (collapsed label; expand for splits) |
| Amount | Attributed amount on the Impact Record |
| Status | Allocation state: Allocated, In progress, or Completed (not a conservation outcome claim) |
| Surveys | How many surveys appear on allocation lines |
| Allocate | Edit the split across surveys |
Allocate to one or more surveys
- Open Allocate on a record.
- Add lines with a survey and amount.
- Make sure the lines sum to the record total.
- Save. Multi-survey splits need a survey on each line.
The donor Impact page lists each surveyed allocation with its amount. A Conservation Story for survey A shows that survey’s story; allocations to survey B appear on survey B’s surfaces and on the donor page, not inside survey A’s Story as “their” spend.
Donor Impact page
The receipt email includes a private link to /impact/… on your site. No portal login is required. Typical contents:
- Campaign story and amount
- Allocation status
- Survey lines with amounts when surveys are set
- Live survey activity (observations / species) labeled as field activity, not as “your gift caused these detections”
Share that link with the supporter. Do not treat it as a tax PDF unless your organization separately provides verified charitable documentation.
What not to claim
| Safe | Avoid |
|---|---|
| “Allocated toward [survey name]” when an allocation line says so | “Every dollar from this campaign funded this survey” from the campaign↔survey link alone |
| Survey field activity as evidence counts | “Your $X produced N observations” |
| Status = allocation progress | Status = conservation outcome achieved |
Steps
- Attach a campaign to the donation product or checkout path.
- Optionally set the campaign’s default survey under campaign settings.
- Run a test paid gift.
- Confirm a row appears under Settings → Campaigns → Impact.
- Use Allocate if you need to confirm or split surveys.
- Open the Impact link from the receipt email and check the donor wording.
Verifying your setup
- Paid gifts with a campaign create Impact Records.
- Allocate rejects splits that do not sum to the record total.
- The donor page lists each surveyed allocation with amounts.
- Conservation Story support summaries stay empty or honest until allocations exist.
- Status changes do not invent outcomes.
