Configure client portal widgets

Under Portal Manager → Portal Settings, enable and reorder client portal widgets—welcome banner, showcase gallery, downloads, resources, and events—this shell defines portal home sections; each client's actual access still comes from invitations or portal-enabled purchases.

The client portal home is built from widgets you enable in Portal Settings. This is the shell—which sections exist and default portfolios or copy—separate from entitlements (what each client may open based on purchases and invitations). Both layers combine when a client signs in.

Prerequisites

Dashboard → Portal Manager → Portal Settings (/dashboard/portal-manager/portal)

Education module on your plan

Assets ready: Portfolio collections, Media documents, or Events when configuring pickers

What you're looking at

Enabled widgets list (drag to reorder): each card has Configure and Remove.

Available widgets row: add types not yet on the portal.

Save persists to your photographer's portal configuration.

Portal Settings lives under Portal Manager, not Settings → general dashboard tabs.

Shell vs entitlements (read this first)

LayerYou configureWhat it controls
Shell (Portal Settings)Which sections appear on the client portal home, sort order, welcome message, default portfolios for showcase widgetsLayout and defaults for any client who can sign in
Entitlements (purchases and invitations)Access type + resource on Invite Client, or portal widgets on digital productsWhich resources this client may open—courses, proofing galleries, downloads, events

Important behaviors:

  • Client Showcase on the home page can show a default portfolio from Portal Settings for passive browsing. Proofing / album approval still requires an entitlement—clients need an invitation or purchase that includes that gallery.
  • Gallery and Videos items in the client portal sidebar are entitlement-gated for full proofing and library views—not only the shell toggle.
  • Course progress is not a Portal Settings toggle. It appears when the client has course access from a purchase or invitation. Configure courses on products and invitations—see Set course access rules.

Implementation steps

  1. Open Portal Manager and click Portal Settings in the header.
  2. Review Enabled widgets—remove types you do not use so clients see a focused home.
  3. Click Configure on Welcome Banner and set client-facing greeting copy.
  4. Add Client Showcase if you want a default gallery on home; select the portfolio and save.
  5. Add Downloads or Resources when clients should self-serve files; pick the portfolios or documents.
  6. Add Events when workshop clients need session visibility; link an event from Events Manager.
  7. Drag widgets to reorder the home stack (welcome → showcase → video → courses block when entitled).
  8. Click Save Configuration and sign in as a test client to verify home vs sidebar behavior.

What you'll see

Saved widgets appear on the client portal home for entitled clients. Sidebar entries for proofing galleries and full video libraries appear only when that client's invitation or purchase includes those resources.

Verifying your setup

  • Portal Settings saved without errors.
  • Welcome copy and at least one content widget match your delivery workflow.
  • Test client sees home widgets you enabled; proofing gallery requires invitation or purchase—not shell alone.
