Documentation/Media Presentation Blocks

Portfolio delivery blocks

Portfolio blocks under Page Editor → Portfolio wire Media or collections to published pages—Image Gallery for hand-picked stills, Image Portfolio for one collection with optional lightbox, Portfolio Listing for many collections, Video Portfolio and Impact Map for motion and geo stories, and Motion for an embedded cinematic gallery from a motion-enabled collection.

Reference for Page Editor → Portfolio blocks. These layouts present Portfolio collections or hand-picked Media on published pages—not the same as sharing a private gallery link alone. For editor workflow, see Add media to pages.

Visitor behavior: lightbox vs on-page viewing

BlockOn the live pageOverlay lightbox
Image GalleryYes — grid, masonry, or featured (main + thumbnails) navigation stays on the page.No — not tied to Portfolio Settings → Lightbox & Style.
Image PortfolioGrid/masonry/carousel renders on the page; optional pagination changes which slice of the collection is shown.Yes, when Enable Lightbox is on for that collection — configure under Portfolio Settings → Lightbox & Style (Portfolio lightbox settings).

When Image Portfolio uses numbered pages, load more, or infinite scroll, the lightbox only includes images from the page the visitor is on—swiping prev/next does not jump to another paginated slice. Close the overlay and change page to browse the next set.

Video Gallery and Slider blocks behave like Image Gallery: playback and navigation stay inline on the page.

Image Gallery

Hand-picked stills from Media—ideal when the page is not tied to a single collection. Clicks navigate within the block (featured thumbs, grid)—not the portfolio overlay.

Attributes include:

  • Images — add/reorder/remove via Media picker (multi-select).
  • View mode — grid or featured (main image + thumbnails).
  • Layout — grid or masonry (grid view).
  • Columns, gap, and aspect ratio presets for the grid.
  • Per-image alt text from media metadata where available.

Best for: editorials, “best of” sets, and mixed selects across shoots.

Image Portfolio

Displays one Portfolio collection with layout controls that respect series presentation.

Attributes include:

  • Portfolio — collection picker.
  • Layout — grid, masonry, or carousel.
  • Columns and gap (grid/masonry).
  • Aspect ratio (grid/carousel).
  • Pagination — numbered pages, load more, or infinite scroll; page size (10–50).
  • Carousel — slide width, slides per view, autoplay when layout is carousel.
  • Show captions toggle.

Best for: client proofing pages, collection launches, and consistent aspect-ratio series.

Pair with Portfolio Settings for lightbox and downloads: Portfolio lightbox settings. With lightbox enabled, tile click opens the overlay; with lightbox off, the same click may go to a photo detail page when Enable Page View is on.

Portfolio Listing

Macro index of multiple portfolios—visitors route into sub-galleries from one page.

Attributes include:

  • Portfolios — add/remove collections in the panel.
  • Layout — grid, list, or tab.
  • Columns and aspect ratio (grid layout).
  • Show title, show description, show counts, card style (e.g. minimal).

Best for: studio homepages that showcase weddings, commercial, and personal work side by side.

Video Portfolio

Video-forward wall from a single Portfolio (only video items from that collection surface).

Attributes include:

  • Portfolio — must contain video assets.
  • View mode — grid or featured.
  • Layout, columns, gap, aspect ratio (parallel to image gallery controls).

Best for: reels, motion campaigns, and behind-the-scenes motion selects.

Motion block

Embeds the animated motion gallery from a Portfolio collection that has Motion presentation turned on. Visitors get the same template family you configured under Portfolio → Motion tab (path carousel, arch spotlight, pipeline rail, and others)—not a separate block-level layout picker.

Attributes include:

  • Portfolio — picker lists motion-enabled collections only.

Layout on the page

  • The block fills the parent column (or section width you set with Style → Width). It does not add its own page-break or full-bleed mode.
  • Stage span traits such as Wide on pipeline rail apply on the dedicated /portfolio/{slug} motion page; embeds always use the contained (tight) stage so the gallery fits the column.
  • On-block captions and below-stage description from the motion template are hidden in the embed—add titles and copy in adjacent page blocks if you need them beside the stage.

Requirements: eligible plan with Motion presentation, collection with motion turned on, and at least five images for Pipeline rail. Configure template, intensity, aspect ratio, and traits on the collection Motion tab — see Portfolio motion settings and Motion portfolio pages.

Best for: campaign landing sections, about-page highlights, and side-by-side layouts that pair motion with body copy—without sending visitors away from the page.

Impact Map

Plots portfolio stills with location data on an interactive map on your public site.

Attributes include:

  • Portfolio source — collection with geo-tagged media.
  • Layout — minimal, hero, and related map presentations.
  • Observation date range — optional timeline filter.
  • Campaign and donation product — optional fundraise CTA on the block.

Requires GPS or manual location on media and portfolio map visibility settings. Full setup: Add an Impact map to a page and Portfolio geo visibility.

Geographic story + pinsImpact Map

System restrictions & guardrails

  • Image Portfolio and Video Portfolio need a selected collection before the public page renders content.
  • Image Gallery does not auto-sync when you add images to a collection—you manage the block’s image list explicitly.
  • Impact Map only shows items with usable coordinates and portfolio map visibility enabled.
  • Large carousels and infinite scroll affect mobile performance—preview on real devices.

Verifying your setup

  • The correct block type is on the canvas for your story (table above).
  • Portfolio or Media source is set and preview shows assets.
  • For Impact Map, at least one pin appears on the live preview after geo and visibility rules are met.
