Changelog

Framer Motion portfolio presentations

Cinematic portfolio motion is live: 3D, axis, wheel, and arch presentations, plus pipeline rail for larger sets. Available on Pro Portfolio and above.

Your portfolio no longer has to open as a flat grid. Portfolio motion presentation is a separate publish track. Visitors browse a Framer Motion stage with depth, focus, and intentional pacing, while your standard masonry or grid layout stays intact on the Public page tab until you switch tracks.
Motion is built for photographers who care how work feels in the browser, not only how thumbnails tile.

What's in this release

Path carousel family

Shared depth math; only the path changes.

  • 3D carousel: straight stack in Z-space; flanks sit behind center with half a face visible.
  • Axis carousel: horizontal path with rotating side previews; tune flank count and flank blur.
  • Wheel carousel: curved sweep around a rotary arc; outside (convex rim) or inside (concave bowl).

Arch spotlight

Active image travels an arch path, then spotlight detaches (collapse, travel, expand) for a cinematic focus change.

Pipeline rail

Narrow pack along one edge expands into the hero slide. Pack left / right and tight vs wide span. Requires at least 5 images.

Shared behavior

Swipe and drag, horizontal wheel on desktop (when enabled), click-to-focus, keyboard arrows, optional autoplay with pause-on-hover. Visitors who prefer reduced motion get a static presentation. Mixed image and video portfolios play video inline in the stage.

How to enable

  1. Open a portfolio in the dashboard → Motion tab.
  2. Set Presentation track to Motion.
  3. Pick a template: 3D, Axis, Wheel, Arch, or Pipeline rail (5+ images).
  4. Adjust common traits: intensity, aspect ratio, background, controls, autoplay, click behavior.
  5. Fine-tune template traits (flank count, flank blur, wheel perspective, arch spotlight mode, pipeline pack side).
  6. Save and open your public /portfolio/[slug] URL.

Pro tip: large galleries

After five images, Pipeline rail unlocks. Use wide span when the stage should breathe; tight when the rail should stay compact.

Pro tip: depth without noise

On Axis or 3D, raise flank blur slightly before adding more flanks so the center image keeps authority.

Good to know

Motion presentation is on Pro Portfolio and higher tiers (pricing →). Starter and Portfolio plans keep the standard gallery family (grid, masonry, split pane, book, timeline, and more).
